Coordination of Benefits

You may be insured through a similar insurance benefit program offering Extended Health Care and dental care benefits in your own name or as a dependant of your spouse/partner. Your eligible dependant(s) may also have insurance benefits in their own name through the AFBS Insurance Program or through another insurance benefit program.

When this occurs, claims reimbursement may occur from a number of sources, the order of which is described in the co-ordination of benefits with other insurance programs section.

It is very important that you keep a copy of your receipts, particularly if you are insured under the AFBS Insurance Program as well as another insurer. You will be required to provide copies of your receipts to a second insurer in order to be reimbursed.

Examples of two areas where AFBS Members can choose whether or not they wish to coordinate benefits can be seen here.
