Ineligible Expenses

Health care services and supplies which are not specifically listed as a covered expense are not eligible for reimbursement through the AFBS Insurance Program. Also, the following are not eligible for reimbursement:

  • Payment of your provincial health care program;
  • Services payable through any provincial hospital plan or provincial health care plan, WSIB/workers' compensation, other government agencies, other insurers or other sources;
  • Medical Doctor's fees for completing claim forms or reports, missed appointments, or examinations to obtain insurance coverage;
  • Standard hospital ward accommodation;
  • Medical Doctor's fees not covered by your provincial health care plan except as specified under Covered EHC expenses;
  • Cosmetic procedures or surgery;
  • Travel for health reasons or rest cures;
  • Bodily injury resulting from war, insurrection or riot;
  • Coverage for your eligible dependant(s) unless you have chosen to insure them and paid the appropriate premium;
  • Out-of-province bills for hospital, Medical Doctor's or other fees, normally reimbursed through your provincial health care plan.

Important Note: AFBS does not pay for surgeries performed privately and outside of provincial health care plans.
