Basic Critical Illness Insurance Conditions of Benefit Payment
You must survive 30 days after a Covered Condition has been diagnosed or after the defined event; except where such other period is specified in the Definitions of Covered Conditions.
Diagnosis of a Covered Condition must be made by a licensed medical practitioner who has been trained in the specific area of medicine relevant to the Covered Condition or AdvanceCare Benefit Condition for which a benefit is being claimed, and who has been certified by a specialty examining board. Specialist includes but is not limited to: cardiologist, neurologist, nephrologist, oncologist, ophthalmologist, burn specialist and internist. The Specialist must not be the insured, a relative or business associate of the insured.
Payment of the Covered Condition Benefit is limited to only the first Covered Condition to occur.
Industrial Alliance reserves the right to require examination of the insured to confirm the Diagnosis of the Covered Condition by a medical practitioner appointed by Industrial Alliance.
The insured must also satisfy the definition of the applicable Covered Condition under which he/she is claiming.
