This website outlines the insurance benefits available to Actra Fraternal Benefit Society (AFBS) Members who are eligible to participate in the Members’ Insurance Program as indicated in the section 'Insurance Program Eligibility'.  The website outlines the benefits currently available to eligible Members.

Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance,Weekly Income Replacement, Extended Health Care and dental care benefits are underwritten by Actra Fraternal Benefit Society. All terms and conditions with respect to these benefits are governed by the master policy issued by Actra Fraternal Benefit Society. In the event of a discrepancy, benefits will be paid according to the terms of the master policy and applicable legislation. Only the interpretation of the master policy, as expressed by AFBS, is binding on AFBS. Employees of your Guild / Union have no authority to alter the benefits or to interpret the rules applicable to your eligibility for benefits.

AFBS is proud to provide insurance benefits to the membership, however, it is important to recognize that the Insurance Program renews annually, each March 1st, and that the Board of Governors of AFBS retains the right to change, modify or terminate in whole or in part any insurance benefit at the conclusion of the Benefit Year.

Through its Fraternal portfolio, AFBS also pays the full cost of the Member and Family Assistance Program (MFAP). The MFAP benefits are provided by Shepell•fgi. Basic Critical Illness Insurance is provided through Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc. and is administered by AFBS.
